Description

for Solo Eb Basstuba and Brassband (1991)

“The Chameleon is a member of the family of reptiles which has the power of changing their colour to suit their mood or surroundings. The reptile is personified in the E-flat Tuba.”                                         In 1991 Maurice Hamers was conductor of Brassband Limburg. With this Brassband he won the Dutch Championships twice. For the participation at the European Brassband Contest (Entertainment Competition) in 1991 in Rotterdam, he composed Chameleon for his magnificent solo E- flat Tuba player, Hans Nickel. At this European Brassband Contest in Rotterdam he and his Brassband Limburg won 6 titles. Including the prize for the best Soloïst (Hans Nickel) and the prize for the best new solo-work Composition. Chameleon was since then played and recorded by the very best Tuba players around the world.
