CHAKRA. THE IDEA.
The Dutch composer and conductor Maurice Hamers deals with the hinduistic/buddhistic philosophy
of chakras – the energy centers of people. He is fascinated by these teachings of energy residing in the human body.

At the same time the Vorarlberg Symphonic Wind Orchestra enquires for a composition assignment for the wind orchestra world championships in the Dutch city of Kerkrade. For the composer this is a foreordi- nation. His entire chakra experience flows into the tones and bars. He completes the work “Chakra” and it is first performed by the Vorarlberg Symphonic Wind Orchestra in Kerkrade in 2005.

Under the direction of Thomas Ludescher the orchestra wins third place, as the first orchestra from a German speaking country.

CHAKRA. THE PEOPLE.
The project manager Thomas Ludescher develops the idea to visualize the piece of music. It should
– comparable with a music video – visualize those images, which the composer Maurice Hamers had in his mind’s eye when writing the piece “Chakra”.

In search of the right team for project realisation, chakra brought the people together like a mystical power. The Naturopathy Therapist Walter Saler from Bludenz, who advised the team in terms of effect and presentation of energy centres, the Tyrolean nature film expert Christoph Wachter, who doesn’t only have knowledge of filming but also in the field of music and the marketing expert Franz Kuttelwascher, who developed and realised the visual concept as well as the graphic performance. Behind the scenes actors and many other helpers made sure that the project was actually accomplished.
